Inspired by country leaning, genre bending artists like Tyler Childers, Red Clay Strays & Charley Crockett. Song crafting legends like Merle Haggard, Tom Petty and Paul McCartney. The singer songwriter found a blueprint for his own storytelling leading to an unforeseen solo path that began in 2024. No rules, no walls.
A veteran of the local and underground national indie scene, the NYC based songwriter developed his solo material in a makeshift home studio. Further shaped and mixed by producer G Calz in Brick, NJ. Mastered in Nashville by Sterling Sound's Justin Shturtz (Morgan Wallen, Dolly Parton, Hardy)..
Rosenthal credits a pre music life in baseball for his DIY discipline. As well as his discovery and love of country music. The former outfielder and first baseman worked tirelessly to become a gritty standout collegiate player at UCONN in Storrs, CT, & Winchester, Va in the Shenandoah Valley League. With pro stops in Salt Lake City, Ut & Thunder Bay, Ontario.
One of the first ones singles Rosenthal released was ‘Bad Habits’ in the fall of 2024. It debuted on WFUV Fordham.
Americana-UK noted that it "surges along, a tuneful, pulsating song.” The self titled LP ‘TJ Rosenthal’ was soon after put out on May 30th of 2025. Lonesome Highway called it a “release that bodes very well for what will follow down the road for TJ Rosenthal.”
Following that debut, Americana Highways described the March 2025 single ‘Mountaintop’ as "upbeat, knee slapping" and an example of "great songwriting." A song for those who happily enjoy a drink alone after a long week ‘Where The Lights Get Low’ dropped this past summer. It was noted, again by Americana UK, as “immediately absorbing” and called Rosenthal “a compelling writer.”
The six song ‘Winter Blues’ EP is out on Friday Feb 20 which includes two versions of the title track as well as the gritty Lynyrd Skynyrd and Travis Tritt influenced ‘I Been Gone.’ A story about the desire to focus on daily life instead of the current global chaos.
The band will return to the stage this year first on Monday February 20th 8-11pm at the popular new downtown Honk Tonk hotspot Lucinda’s. 169 Ave A New York City. A full length LP is slated for mid to late 2026.
